Corrections

We get things wrong. When we do, we fix them in the open rather than quietly.

Report an error

Email info@geniuscreative.uswith the article URL and the specific claim you believe is wrong. If you can point to a source, that speeds things up considerably.

We aim to acknowledge every report within two business days, including the ones we end up disagreeing with. You will get an answer either way.

How we handle it

We treat three situations differently, because they are different.

Correction

A factual error that changes what a reader would understand. We fix the text and add a note at the foot of the article saying what was wrong, what it now says, and when it changed. The note stays permanently.

Update

New information that does not contradict what we published, but that a reader should have. We add it and date it. The original text is not silently rewritten.

Retraction

An article whose central claim does not hold. We do not delete it. We mark it as retracted, explain why at the top of the page, and leave it accessible. Removing the evidence of a mistake is not a correction.

What we do not do

  • We do not remove accurate reporting because a subject dislikes it.
  • We do not edit published articles without a visible note, except for typographical fixes that change no meaning.
  • We do not accept payment to alter, soften or remove editorial content.

Requests to remove personal information

If a published article contains personal information that creates a genuine risk to you, write toinfo@geniuscreative.us and explain the circumstances. We weigh the public interest against the harm, and we will tell you the outcome and our reasoning.
