What we use

Strictly necessary

A small amount of local storage remembers your choice of light or dark theme. It stays in your browser, is not sent to us, and identifies nobody. Without it the site would forget your preference on every page.

Our own measurement — no cookie at all

We count how our articles are read with a system we run ourselves. It is listed here for completeness rather than because it needs your permission:it stores nothing whatsoever in your browser. There is no cookie to refuse and nothing left behind when you close the tab.

It cannot identify you either. Your IP address is never saved — it is turned into a one-way code that changes every day, so we can count today's readers without being able to recognise anyone tomorrow. What we do with it is decide what to cover next. Full detail is in theprivacy policy, including how to switch it off with Global Privacy Control.

Google analytics

We also load Google Tag Manager on every page. Tag Manager is a container: it loads the measurement tools we configure inside it, which tell us which articles are read, how long people stay and where they arrived from. Unlike our own counter, these tools do set cookies or similar identifiers and do share data with Google, so they run only if you accept them.

Advertising

The site reserves space for display advertising. Where an advertising network is active, it may set its own cookies and may use them for personalised advertising. Any such technologies are loaded through the same Tag Manager container described above.

How to refuse or remove them

On this site

Analytics and advertising are switched off by default until you choose. Nothing beyond the essentials loads before that.

You can change your decision at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as granting:

The same control sits at the foot of every page. Your choice is stored in your browser, not on our servers, so clearing site data resets it and we will ask again.

In your browser

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either entirely or per site. Doing so does not break this site: nothing here requires an account or a session.

• Browser settings: look for Privacy, Cookies and site dataor equivalent.
• Google analytics products can additionally be refused with the browser add-on Google publishes for that purpose.
• Sending a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal is another way to register your preference.

If you want us to delete data already associated with your browsing, write to info@geniuscreative.us and we will act on it.

Third parties we do not control

Articles may link to external sites. Once you follow a link, that site decides what it stores in your browser, and this policy no longer applies.

Changes

When the technologies on this page change, we update the date above. What we load is also visible to you directly: your browser developer tools list every request the page makes.
